Course Description

As a temporary measure to keep our learners safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, this course is being run remotely. Our educators have created an interactive, online course using video streaming software.

Be kind to your audience – no more “death by dull PowerPoint!” Learn to consider your target audience, then plan a dynamic, engaging presentation with appropriate background theme, graphics, transitions, animation and sound. Create consistency by designing your slide master for repeat elements. Use picture tools to position, size and enhance images including SmartArt, WordArt and the insertion of tables and charts from Excel or Word. Confidently save/package your presentation so that it opens perfectly when it’s time to present, even on a different computer. Electronic course manual (pdf) included.

Course Outline

What to expect from this online course:

  • You will have 4 live classes (Tue-Fri) via video live-stream and will be 3 hours in duration (9am-12pm).
  • Students will be emailed the course materials and instructions on how to log-in online before the course start date.
  • There is a discussion board for questions, which your instructor will monitor and answer.
  • All course materials are posted online. These include handouts and activities.

Notes

To take this course online you will need a computer with a reliable internet connection (ideally hard wired in, or located close to your main router), plus a camera and microphone. In addition, it is recommended to use Chrome as your internet browser. You may also find it easier to navigate this online course using two computer monitors, however a single monitor is still fine, you can set up your desktop view as a split screen feature.

Prerequisites

Word Level 1 or equivalent skills, plus strong file management skills. Students should ensure they have access to a cloud (such as Dropbox, GDrive, OneDrive, Icloud etc. ) and ensure they know their username and password for class.
