Course Description

Business analysis models are visual representations of requirements and designs that convey a lot of information in a concise and understandable manner. Collaborative elicitation uses these models to provide a framework for asking the right questions, and for analyzing and validating the results with stakeholders. Different stakeholders have different perspectives about the requirements, and by using a combination of visual models, business analysts can help to discover and consolidate those perspectives. In this course participants will explore techniques and practices for identifying and understanding the stakeholder requirements that define the solution scope, and for eliciting and describing the requirements.

Learner Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course a student will be able to:
 
  • identify tasks and techniques that support requirements elicitation and analysis
  • apply a combination of visual models to elicit and model stakeholder and solution requirements, and ensure alignment of those requirements with the business need
  • define the solution scope to meet a business need, including stakeholder requirements, business processes and business capabilities
  • develop a Use Case diagram and a Context diagram used to identify, clarify, specify and organize requirements
  • define different types of business rules and create a business rules decision table
  • identify and model nonfunctional quality-of-service requirements (those that cannot be categorized in any other way)
