Course Description

This Micro-Credential is tailored for individuals seeking to pursue advanced studies in RPAS 200 (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems 200). RPAS 200 has been meticulously developed and reviewed to ensure that you meet the educational prerequisites set by Transport Canada for advanced RPAS/drone pilots engaged in commercial operations. 

This comprehensive course spans over five sessions and is led by a live instructor which enables you to receive prompt answers to any queries or challenges you may encounter during the credential. The curriculum encompasses a range of topics, including RPAS system components and composition, effective problem-solving techniques in RPAS operations, adherence to NAV Canada guidelines, safety risk management protocols, and the overarching objective of integrating RPAS into the Canadian airspace seamlessly. 

Moreover, the course delves into UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) Company Operating Procedures, encompassing the use of checklists and addressing safety concerns. You can expect engaging lectures and lessons that provide in-depth insights into Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems. Ultimately, this course is designed to prepare you thoroughly for Transport Canada examinations and the Flight Review assessment. 

Learner Outcomes 

The primary goal is to equip Learners with the skills and knowledge necessary to fulfill the requirements for becoming an Advanced Drone Pilot in Canada. Additionally, this course aims to prepare Learners for potential SFOC (Special Flight Operators' Certificate) applications. Furthermore, it seeks to elevate safety awareness among participants and help them proactively avoid typical challenges encountered in RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems) practice.

  2. Air Navigation and Situational Awareness 
  3. Flight Planning and Mapping 
  4. Practical Flight Practice Day 
  5. Practical Drone Practice Day and Final Exam

By the end of the Micro-Credential, learners will have:

  • grasped the initial steps required for legally and safely operating RPAS/Drones, building on their prior knowledge from Part 1 of the introduction to RPAS. 
  • gained a comprehensive understanding of air navigation, situational awareness, and meteorology as they relate to RPAS operations. 
  • developed the skills necessary to plan and execute RPAS missions in controlled airspace. 
  • engaged in hands-on flight practice, focusing on basic flight maneuvers, stick and rudder skills, and logging flight times. 
  • advanced their piloting abilities by mastering advanced maneuvers and safety drills. They will also practice automated flight patterns and execute waypoint navigation plans. The day concludes with the administration of the final exam.
