Using IMO's performance standards and recognized by Transport Canada, the course introduces ECDIS: setting up and maintaining equipment & display; basic navigation functions and using ECDIS to set up and monitor a route and ensure a safe navigational watch. Prerequisites: computer experience with windows, prior experience with nautical chartwork.
Requirement: Bring a Candidate Document Number (CDN), and photo ID to present to instructor. (Contact Transport Canada, 250-363-0394 to obtain your CDN).

Growing up on the West Coast, Rick's love of the sea started at an early age. In 1976, Rick Worrall graduated from the Canadian Coast Guard College in Sydney, Nova Scotia. With over 25 years of experience at sea on Coast Guard and commercial ships, Rick has sailed on all 3 coasts and internationally. Teaching since 2000, Rick is a graduate of the Provincial Instructor Diploma Program and a Transport Canada recognized trainer for courses in Marine Emergency Duties, ECDIS, SVOP, and a variety of courses for Camosun's Nautical Department.
When not at Camosun, Rick participates in many First Nation's events and ceremonies. He is an avid outdoor person and enjoys travelling the roads less travelled.

5. If you violate any of the terms or conditions of this Agreement, this Agreement terminates immediately without notice. Continuing Education and Contract Training may deny access to the Site to you and anyone claiming by or through you without liability to anyone. Continuing Education and Contract Training shall have all additional rights and remedies at law and in equity arising from such violation. Further, you agree to indemnify, defend and hold Continuing Education and Contract Training, and its affiliates, suppliers, employees and agents harmless from all claims, actions, losses, liabilities, damages, costs and expenses (including attorneys fees) arising out of or relating to any such prohibited use of the Site. If you violate or infringe upon the rights of any third party, they have all remedies at law and in equity to enforce their rights against you to the extent applicable arising from your actions.
6. Any delay or failure to act with respect to a breach of this Agreement by you or others does not constitute a waiver and shall not limit such rights with respect to such breach or any subsequent breaches. This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State in which Continuing Education and Contract Training resides. If any provision of this Agreement is held to be invalid or unenforceable, such invalidity or unenforceability shall not affect the remainder of this Agreement, which shall be given full effect without regard to the invalid portions.
7. This Agreement represents the entire agreement between you and Continuing Education and Contract Training regarding the use of the Site.
